HRMC Adds Neurosurgeon and Neurologist to Medical Staff
October 11, 2018
Havasu Regional Medical Center is proud to announce the addition of Arlan Mintz, M.D., a board certified Neurosurgeon, and Olivia Yambem, MD a board certified Neurologist, to its medical staff.
“What attracted me to Havasu Regional Medical Center is the strong community need for a regional neurosurgery program,” said Dr. Mintz. “There is a commitment here to establish a high quality program locally so patients with serious brain conditions don’t have to travel outside of Mohave County for treatment.”
Dr. Mintz is a board certified neurosurgeon in both the United States and Canada who is nationally and internationally recognized. He specializes in the treatment of brain tumors, treating patients with both primary tumors, benign and malignant in nature, and metastatic brain tumors that are the result of cancer that has spread from another location in the body. Dr. Mintz will also be able to perform radiosurgery procedures utilizing the Trubeam Plus® Linear Accelerator slated for installation in early 2019.
Dr. Mintz treats head injuries as part of Havasu Regional Medical Centers Level 3 Trauma Center. This allows those with trauma related head injuries to receive care close to home.
Dr. Mintz received his medical degree from McMaster University in Ontario, Canada. He went on to complete his surgical internship at McMaster University and his neurosurgery residency at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Mintz also holds two Master of Science degrees in both neurophysiology and clinical epidemiology and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Mintz has published numerous academic articles and has lectured internationally and nationally in addition to being an active researcher in the area of brain tumors.
Also new to the HRMC team is neurologist Dr. Olivia Yambem. Dr. Yambem also completed a neuromuscular fellowship at the University of Washington, School of Medicine in Seattle, Washington. “Being able to keep patients close to home, near their support network, helps healing and the recovery process,” said Dr. Yambem. “The patient and their family are undergoing an extreme amount of stress so anything we can do the keep them close to home will decrease the inconvenience of having to travel out of the area.”
Both doctors will be located in the HRMC Medical Office building at 1851 Mesquite Avenue in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
