Havasu Regional Expands Cancer Center
March 31, 2017
Lake Havasu City, AZ (March 31, 2017) – Havasu Regional Medical Center is holding a grand re-opening of the newly expanded and remodeled Cancer Treatment Center on Thursday April 6th from 4-6:30pm. The public is invited to attend. Refreshments and tours will be available.
The newly remodeled center added 6,000 square feet of new space and makes for a more relaxed atmosphere, starting with separate waiting rooms for each service line. New additions to the center include a nourishment center, an education room that includes educational resources for patients and their families, and wheelchair scales to make it easier for our patients.
The chemo therapy and infusion areas are now more amenable for friends and family who are coming to support those getting treatment. Included in the expansion are two private rooms for those patients feeling ill. Other services provided include; immune system treatments and other cancer-related treatments. Convenient onsite pharmacy to handle all the patients’ needs for treatment while at the center. "Ever since the Cancer Center program expanded to incorporate medical and radiation oncology in 2010, it was clear that the original facility was beyond capacity. Years of planning by clinical and administrative staff have produced a regional cancer center that more than meets the needs of our community for years to come", said Dr. Michael Lyster, Hematology Oncologist at the cancer center.
Expansion has allowed for a new CT to be added that will be used in treatment planning for radiation oncology services. “We are excited about the expansion for the cancer center and our patients will certainly benefit from the technological improvements. The radiation oncology department recently obtained a state-of-the-art CT scanner for radiation treatment planning. Being able to perform this procedure at the Center has greatly expedited patient treatment courses. The CT scanner also has provided imaging studies necessary for new radiation therapy treatments currently offered at the Center, such as stereotactic radiosurgery and stereotactic body radiotherapy,” said Nicholas Roman, M.D., Radiation Oncologist.
The expansion has allowed for the relocation of the Specialty Clinic to the Cancer Center. The Specialty Clinic handles all outpatient blood products, blood transfusions and antibiotic treatments for our patients. “This expansion has allowed us to provide continuity of care to all areas of cancer treatment. The layout and design created a centralized facility that is very patient friendly and very professional in appearance “says Dr. Hade, MD at the Cancer Treatment Center.
